Tucked away somewhere between Utrecht, Amsterdam and Arnhem lies the littlest city of Amersfoort. Amers-what? Exactly. We’d never heard of this little medieval town either until a random day of Dutch city hopping that consisted of jumping on the first train we saw and randomly picking cities along the line to explore. Sometimes a picture really does say more and these magical moments from our Amersfoort photo diary are no different.
We started the morning quite early at an eerie looking train station
It wasn’t platform 9 and ¾ but it was platform 3b where it all began. A train to Amersfoort via Ede-Wagening.
Pretty hello’s or goodbyes depending on which way you’re looking at it.
Beautiful buildings hidden in the background by misty mornings
Nevertheless, we still went forth…
…to find medieval beauty amidst autumn leaves
Historic buildings…
Picturesque canals…
cozy looking old Dutch homes
and quiet streets perfect for exploring on an early Sunday morning.
