The Twenty Something’s Rainy Day Guide: 10 Things To Do Indoors

The girls have been asking me for a while now to do a rainy day post filled with ideas of things to do when there’s endless rain falling outside. Gloomy days are some of my favorites because, the truth is, I don’t think I could ever be bored with my own company. More often than not, it means I get to stay indoors and do all the wonderful things I just haven’t really had time for. So, if you find yourself at home, on a dull grey day and don’t want to leave your cozy abode, then here’s my rainy day guide filled with things to do.

  1. SLEEP A LITTLE LONGER

There’s something about the sound of rain hitting against the window that can make even the darkest insomniac sleep soundly. The truth is, there’s nothing better than rolling over, snuggling even deeper into the covers and falling back to sleep.

  1. HAVE A MOVIE MARATHON

After a late morning, rustle up some popcorn and cappuccino and snuggle in with a movie marathon or TV series that you just haven’t had the time for. The Lord of the Rings or better yet, some Grey’s Anatomy sound pretty awesome. Maybe even hit play on that watch later list of TED Talks you’ve been building up.

  1. READ

Rainy weather is the perfect time to catch up on some serious reading. Let the rain fall outside while you sit in bed and finish that chapter you have been putting off.

  1. PLAN YOUR VACATION

Perhaps, now might even be a good time to start planning your end of year summer vacation. Ever so often we put off planning itineraries, reading hotel reviews and recommended things to do, so why not get some head way now?

  1. TAKE AN ONLINE CLASS

With so many online open universities popping up, do some research and perhaps now might be the best time to take that gastronomy, literature or beginners language course you’ve always wanted to take.

  1. HAVE A BUBBLE BATH

Switch on a decent Spotify playlist and take an extra-long bubble bath with scented candles. Just. Because. You. Can.

  1. YOGA

Perhaps a home spa day with some some online yoga or Pilates videos?

  1. COOK

Channel your inner Julia Child and rustle up something pretty in the kitchen. Better yet, try recreating some of those recipes you’ve bookmarked but just haven’t had the time to try.

  1. BE CREATIVE

If you love writing, drawing or just creating, this would be the perfect time to get those magical juices flowing.

10. CATCH UP

Call your girlfriends, send some long overdue emails and make those much awaited skype calls. You have to do it some time.

What do you do when it’s gloomy and rainy outside?
