Sex And The City Adventures In New York City

Sex and The City Adventures

I am through and through a Sex and the City girl. Carrie… Miranda… Charlotte and Samantha… each one of them taught us valuable lessons about being a woman, following your passions and just enjoying every luxurious moment life has to offer. Why wouldn’t you if you were living in one of the most popular cities in the world? New York City… ah… the city of sparkly lights and all things fabulous.

I’ll never forgetting those two and half years traveling solo through China. While that was an adventure in itself what I loved was the fast internet speed and me time I could afford myself whenever I wanted. It was in those two and half years (and through all the crazy Chinese adventures) that I actually found the time to watch every single episode of Sex and The City.

sisters in New York City, Carrie Bradshaw's apartment

Fast forward four years and I find myself slap bang in the middle of Manhattan with two whole weeks to explore and adventure. There’s only one thing a girl can do… and that’s to have a fabulous Sex and The City inspired adventure where you get to relive as many of those favourite HBO moments as possible!

My little sister and I hadn’t realised just how many places on our NYC bucket list were inspired from the hit show Sex and The City. As we explored the Big Apple and all it had to offer, we started finding ourselves standing slap bang in the middle of some of the most iconic Sex and The City locations where our girls had lived some of the biggest moments in their New York lives. I thought I’d share some of the adventure with you so you to can create your own Sex and The City adventure if you ever find yourself in New York.

Finding Carrie’s Apartment

New York City apartment’s are well know for their cute little entrance ways and stairs where you could sit and gaze at endless sky scrapers all round and well, maybe end a romantic date on or even… I guess… cry your eyes out. But finding Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment on Perry Street was an adventure itself. At first we weren’t even sure it actually existed but a quick Google search told us otherwise and soon we were standing in front of the iconic girly apartment that ever single girl dreams of having at least once in their life.

Magnolia Bakery

Known for its cupcakes and delicious Banana Pudding, Magnolia Bakery was originally made famous by Carrie and Miranda as they sat outside eating cupcakes and talking about their love lives. Of course we had to find this little shop and taste their frosty coated cupcakes! I don’t think we’ll ever forget how Carrie and Miranda sat on the little bench outside, eating pink frosted cupcakes and talking about Carrie’s crush on Aidan.

Central Park

Central Park is a dream in any season but do you remember that time Carrie and Big shared a kiss in true old-time New York fashion while taking a carriage ride? Um yeah, we do! You can be sure we went in search of the prettiest carriages around the park.

The Loeb Boathouse

Exploring Central Park is a wonder on its own but if you look hard enough, you’ll find a little boathouse tucked away. Remember that time Carrie and Big met for lunch at a waterside café in Central Park? No? Remember that time Big goes for an unexpected swim in a lake when he leans in for a quick peck on the cheek? Ah yes… the Loeb Boathouse.

The Boat House

The Plaza Hotel

Located on Fifth Avenue and 59th Street, the 19-storey Plaza Hotel is famous for its gorgeous views of Central Park. It’s also where Big hosted his engagement party with Natasha and broke Carrie’s heart. Either way, this luxurious hotel is a must visit, even if just for the glitzy views on the outside.

Brooklyn Bridge

There’s so much to see and do in Brooklyn but walking Brooklyn Bridge is one hell of an adventure. Connecting Manhattan and Brooklyn, it’s one of the must do’s when visiting NYC. It’s also where Steve and Miranda decide to meet to give their relationship another chance. Who can forget that romantic moment?

New York Public Library

The New York Public Library is any book lovers dream come true. In fact, I’ll go as far as saying that it should be on every book lover’s must visit destinations! But if you’re a SATC fan, you’ll also know this is where Big and Carrie had their disastrous wedding.

Exploring Tiffany and Co.

Tiffany and Co. was on our list for a number of reasons but who could ever forget that moment when Trey and Charlotte make their engagement official? It was right in front of the iconic Tiffany and Co jewellery store located on Fifth Avenue. Out of nowhere, Trey suggests that he and Charlotte go in and pick out “the most beautiful ring they have” and she says, in true Charlotte style… “all righty.” Of course little sis and I were going to explore Tiffany and Co.

Have you found any other SATC locations while exploring New York City? Share them with me!
